About us

Money Shortlist started with one very specific problem: we were looking for a business account for our own limited company (sp. z o.o.).

Comparison sites showed sign-up bonuses and “0 PLN” headlines, but none answered a simple question: what will this account actually cost us in six months, once the promotion ends? The answer was buried in fee tables and terms and conditions — dozens of PDF pages nobody enjoys reading. We read them. Our notes became our first report, written just for ourselves.

Then came the idea: if we are reading the terms anyway, let’s do it properly, every month, for everyone. That is how our rankings of accounts, deposits, savings and cards began — followed by weekly market digests and short daily news pieces.

The team

We are two people — financial-market enthusiasts who like to find out what the asterisk next to “0 PLN” really means. We are not a bank or a financial adviser, and we don’t pretend to be a big newsroom. We are curious, stubborn about checking numbers, and slightly too excited about a new version of a bank’s fee table.

AI tools help us — and we don’t hide it. They let two people read dozens of bank documents every month instead of picking a few by gut feeling.

How we work (including with AI)

  • Numbers only from banks’ documents. Rates, fees and bonuses come from offer pages, fee tables and promotion terms. AI models help extract them, and our code makes sure no figure appears in a text unless it is in the data.
  • The order is calculated, not opinion. Every ranking publishes its criteria and weights. Commission never enters the score.
  • A human approves every ranking. We read and approve each ranking before it goes live. Short daily news pieces are published automatically — but only after checks: figures must come from our data or the source, texts may not copy other publications, and every news note links to its source.
  • We correct mistakes in the open. For 7 days after a ranking is published we can correct it, and every correction goes into a public log. After that the edition is frozen together with its source data.

How we make money

Some links on the site are affiliate links — if someone opens an account through them, we may earn a commission. They are always labelled and never change the order of a ranking. The site may also show Google ads. More: Affiliate disclosure.

Who writes this

Seweryn Tchórzewski — founder and editor, Money Shortlist. I have run IT companies since 2003 — from a sole proprietorship, through a partnership, to limited companies. My day job is project consulting, cybersecurity in the broad sense and, more recently, applied AI. I am not a licensed financial adviser, and Money Shortlist does not give personal financial advice: it compares published terms.

The rankings started as a personal need. At one point I needed a cheap current account for a small limited company I had just set up. The same week a friend asked which account to open for their child, and two more people — neither of them Polish — asked how to open an account in Poland at all. One comparison became three or four, and I realised the useful part was not the opinion but the method: take the banks’ own fee tables and terms, check them again every month, and show the numbers side by side. Whether there is a wider need for this is something the site will prove or disprove — the data log of every edition is public, so you can check my work.

How I work: every shortlist is rebuilt monthly from the providers’ current documents, each edition is frozen with its source data, corrections are logged, and affiliate links are labelled and never affect the order. If I got something wrong, write to me — the fix goes into the next edition with a note.

Off the clock: a long-time science-fiction reader, owner of a few bull terriers, living in a house in the woods — my base of calm. At 47 I went back to university to study cybersecurity; I am one of the older students in the lecture hall, and I am fine with that.
