How we rate

Every ranking on Money Shortlist is built the same way, and this page explains how. If a number is on the page, you can find it in the provider’s own published terms.

Where the figures come from

  • Providers’ fee tables, product pages and promotion terms — nothing from forums, press releases or memory.
  • Pages are checked automatically every day. A figure is only accepted when it appears word-for-word on the source page; anything we cannot confirm is shown as a placeholder instead of a guess.
  • Every ranking shows the date the data was last checked.

What we score

  • Fees — what you actually pay per month and per card.
  • Conditions — how easy it is to keep the account free or unlock the offer.
  • Sign-up offer — bonus value and how realistic it is to earn it.
  • Everyday fit — invoicing, currencies, app and support for the audience of the ranking.

Savings rankings add the interest rate, how long a promotional rate lasts, the balance it applies to and which deposit guarantee scheme covers your money. The weights used in a ranking are published in that ranking.

What never affects the order

  • Commission. Some links earn us a commission; the score is calculated without it, and products with no affiliate programme are ranked the same way.
  • Investment products. Funds (including money-market funds), shares and crypto are not savings accounts and are left out of savings rankings.

Content on this site is general information about financial products, not financial or investment advice. Always check the provider’s current terms before opening a product.
